- The congregation is St. John’s premier musical ensemble and meets weekly to receive the gifts of God and respond with thanksgiving and joy. The congregation is encouraged in their song by weekly worship notes, the hymn of the month program, and several other activities designed to equip and encourage them to sing with joy!
- Instrumentalists and Small Vocal Ensembles also serve regularly in worship.
For adults:
- Adult Choir is a 45-voice mixed choir that sings for services several times per month. In addition to its primary task of leading the congregation in song, the Adult Choir also presents choral works that support and teach the Word of God. Membership is open to singers high school and up. Adult Choir rehearses on Wednesdays from 7:00 to 8:15 p.m. in the Music Room (6-7 p.m. during Advent and Lent).
- Doxology Handbells rehearses on Wednesdays from 8:30 to 9:15 p.m. in the balcony. Doxology rings a variety of handbell literature and also supports the congregation’s song by providing hymn introductions and accompaniments.
For school-age children:
- St. John School provides excellent music education and choral music performance opportunities through its music programs. School choirs regularly serve in worship services.
- St. John School students in grades 7 and 8 may choose to participate in Singers and Ringers. These elective ensembles provide musical and spiritual growth opportunities and culminate in a weekend tour which allows the students to share the Gospel message in song.
- Public school students attending Midweek School (grades 3-6) receive music education and choir time in their weekly classes.
- St. John’s Summer Horizons enrichment program provides opportunities in music and the arts to school-age children.
